SRH Take Parts in Eco-Positive Activity
On 21 May 2010, which was the day before the “International Day for Biodiversity”, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. supported Sharp world wide activity “Eco-Positive Action for Biodiversity 2010” by visiting Noah’s Ark, with the objective to teach the staff and their family members how to protect the environment.

SRH Takes Part in Green Power Flag Day
On 30 December 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. took part in the Flag Day organized by Green Power, with the objective to help building a greener Hong Kong. 


 

SRH Advocates Green Christmas
To celebrate Christmas 2009 in a green way, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. collaborated with Friends of the Earth to prepare an e-Card for sending season’s greetings and spreading the green message.  


 

SRH Supports Computer Refurbishment Project
In October 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. supported the Computer Refurbishment Project conducted by Caritas-Hong Kong by donating 19 sets of used computers. The Project, sponsored by the Environmental Protection Department, not only aims to reduce computer waste but also help the people who are in need of computers. The donated PCs – after being upgraded or repaired – are delivered to the people in needs, to schools, or to charity organizations. Those PCs which cannot be repaired are dismantled for recycling. In the past year, over 1,500 families had benefited from the programme.


SRH being awarded Wastewi$e Label (Class of Excellence) for the Second Year
In October 2009, Sharp-Roxy (HK) Ltd. has once again been awarded the Wastewi$e Label (Class of Excellence) of the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE). Co-organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and nine other organizers in partnership with Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC), the Award aims to encourage businesses and organizations to adopt green management, and to present participants with an opportunity to benchmark and recognize their commitment to environmental protection.  

SRH Organizes Toys & Gifts Donation Campaign
In July 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. organized Toys & Gifts Donation Campaign to call for the donation of toys, gifts, books & collectibles. By encouraging employees to donate, it aimed to raise employees' awareness on the importance of resources saving and protection of our ecosystem.

The collected items were all donated to Caritas – Hong Kong, an international charity organization which provides wide-ranging services to the community at large. The donated items will be used for fund-raising e.g. Caritas Bazaar; donation to the needy – with children as target group; or as premiums for various activities organized by Caritas. 


 

SRH Supports "Dim It" Campaign
On June 21, 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. (SRH) supported the Dim It Campaign organized by Friends of the Earth (HK), by turning off the Sharp neon sign – located on top of a high-rise building at one of the busiest commercial & shopping districts in Hong Kong – for two hours. By participating in this event, SRH hopes to join hands with over 100 other participating organizations in making a contribution to raise public awareness in energy consumption and light pollution. It is also part of the company's efforts to keep its employees aware of the importance of protecting our ecosystem. 


SRH Supports "Embracing Challenges Embracing Lives"

 
On May 16, 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. (SRH) supported the "Embracing Challenges Embracing Lives" Movement – jointly organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and its Agency Members, the Social Welfare Department, the Community Chest and the Committee on the Promotion of Civil Education – to promote positive messages of "Think Positively, Care for Family and Live Healthily" in the community, taking into consideration that Hongkongers are facing challenges in coping with distress resulted from the financial tsunami. Volunteers from SRH participated in the bus tour campaign to help promote the Movement by distributing souvenirs and leaflets in designated areas.

 

 

SRH Supports Earth Hour 2009
On March 28, 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. (SRH) supported the 'Earth Hour 2009' lights out event organized by WWF, the global conservation organization, by turning off the Sharp neon sign for an hour, which is located on top of a high-rise building at one of the busiest commercial & shopping districts in Hong Kong.  By participating in this event, SRH hopes to play a part in energy conservation and environmental protection, as well as raising public awareness.

 

SRH Recognized for CSR Efforts
In February 2009, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. (SRH) has been awarded the Caring Company Logo 2008/09 by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, in recognition of our contribution to the community and our active participation in demonstrating good corporate citizenship in the past one year.  

The Caring Company criteria we have achieved include:
(i) Caring for the Environment – promote actively on environmental protection,
(ii) Giving – provide cash or in-kind donation to non-profit charitable organization, and
(iii) Employee Friendly – provide an employee-friendly environment for employees.

 

SRH Takes Part in Green Power Flag Day 
On 31 December 2008, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. took part in the Flag Day organized by Green Power, with the objective to help building a greener Hong Kong.

  

 

 

SRH Organizes Environmental Photo Competition
In October 2008, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. held its first-ever Environmental Photo Competition to promote environmental awareness among employees. The winning photograph, entitled "One is Enough", encourages the use of reusable shopping bags instead of environmentally unfriendly plastic bags.


 

SRH's Efforts in Waste Reduction Recognized
In October 2008, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. was awarded the Wastewi$e Label (Class of Excellence), one of the four environmental labels of the 2008 HKAEE (Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence).  Co-organized by the HKCSS (Hong Kong Council of Social Service) and nine other organizers in partnership with the ECC (Environmental Campaign Committee), the Awards encourage businesses and organizations to adopt green management practices by recognizing outstanding examples of environmental protection.



SRH Advocates Recycling of Used Clothes
In July 2008, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. (SRH) organized Used Clothes Collection Campaign to call for the donation of used clothes for recycling.  By encouraging employees to donate, it aimed to raise employees' awareness on the importance of resource saving and protection of our ecosystem.

The collected items, weighing approximately 500 kilograms of used clothes, footwear and soft toys were all donated to the Salvation Army of Hong Kong, an international charitable organization.  The donated items will then be sorted and distributed directly to the needy in our society; or be transported for the relief of disaster survivors worldwide; or be sold to fund the services of the Salvation Army. 

 

SRH Supports “Lights Out Hong Kong” Campaign

On June 21, 2008, Sharp-Roxy (Hong Kong) Ltd. (SRH) supported the Lights Out Hong Kong campaign organized by Friends of the Earth (HK), by turning off the Sharp neon sign located on top of a high-rise building at one of the busiest commercial & shopping districts in Hong Kong.  By participating in this event, SRH hopes to join hands with over 100 other participating organizations in making a contribution to raise public awareness in energy conservation and the reduction of light pollution.  It is also part of the company's efforts to keep its employees aware of the importance of protecting our ecosystem. 

Prior to the event, representatives from SRH Environmental Committee attended the press conference of the event and presented to the media about Sharp's ambition to become an environmentally advanced company focusing on LCDs and solar energy as well as local environmental policy and related projects.
